GDS - Great Day of Service
The Service Station hosts the annual Great Day of Service as an opportunity for the entire student body to give back to the community. With over 50 non-profit organizations that have partnered with the Service Station, the students join together on an early Saturday morning to build, clean, organize, restore and more!
On November 2, 2013 the Service Station held its annual Great Day of Service themed based off of Daft Punk's hit "Up All Night, and Still Serving". Approximately 386 students served the Sherman/Denison area, and donated over 400 cans to Helping Hands food pantry!
On November 3, 2012, Austin College held its 15th annual Great Day of Service with the theme "I Mustache You to Serve." 380 students went out to 46 sites, such as Denison Main Street, Divine Equine, and Sneed. Students were spread out between Sherman, Denison, Luella, and Pottsboro. 593 canned goods were donated to the Four Rivers Outreach Center for addiction recovery and the Helping Hands food pantry.
On November 5, 2011, 423 Austin College students worked with over 50 sites, such as the Sherman Museum, Sneed Prairie Restoration, and Stonebrook Assisted Living around the Texoma area in order to enrich and help our surrounding community. 585 canned goods were donated to the Four Rivers Community Outreach.
