Andrew Kareklas - Assistant Pledge Captain, Secretary, Historian Pledge Class 52 I was born in the quaint suburb of Dallas, Richardson. As a young lad I was always sprite and lively and always seemed to be involved in some sort of sport or activity. When I was eighteen I moved from Richardson to San Angelo, where I learned to steal cars…ahh memories. The job was always fast paced and exciting, but the hours were inconsistent to say the least, and I didn’t enjoy taking peoples’ cars away from them simply for the fact that they were poor. After spending several months stealing cars for a living, I decided on a career shift, because I do not enjoy being shot at. I became a delivery boy, and took several odd jobs including telemarketer and bingo caller. Being a Bingo caller was interesting because, despite all the glamour usually associated with such a profession, I didn’t enjoy being yelled at by little old ladies to slow down or speed up. Some of those women take their bingo very seriously. After a year out of school, I wised up and decided to come to Austin College to further my education...specifically in the area of female anatomy. So, for the past several months I have been intensely studying that subject, and going to some classes as well. The classes here at Austin College are usually fun and exciting, save Heritage of Western Culture, which has become the bane of my existence. My greatest ambition is to become a steamboat captain, and I have always wanted to meet a nice Norwegian Mermaid and settle down. If one day the opportunity were to present itself, I think that it would be truly interesting to work with a traveling circus as well. I am enjoying my career at Austin College and am looking forward to the next several years here. The people here have to be the best part, because everyone is fun and interesting and always open to other cultures and new ideas. Plus, even though there are several…interesting people scattered throughout the campus, everyone seems to be very relaxed and interested in learning. I hope that the rest of my time here at Austin College goes well, and afterwards, I hope to experience everything that life has to offer to a college graduate with a degree in the liberal arts. |
